AIHS: Streamlining Health Research Ethics in Alberta
“Alberta has made significant strides in streamlining human health research ethics review. These improvements will offer opportunities for Albertans to access state-of-the-art treatment, protect participants in health research, support researchers developing innovations, and increase the province’s competitiveness by attracting investment.
“The ministries of Health, and Enterprise and Advanced Education mandated Alberta Innovates – Health Solutions (AIHS), through the province’s Health Research Ethics Harmonization (HREH) initiative, to continue to expedite next steps towards creating a more integrated, harmonized human health research ethics ‘system’ for Alberta.”

Qualitative Health Research (QHR) Conference
Qualitative research for health reflects a diversity of disciplines, philosophies and theories. For those embarking on the qualitative journey, this diversity brings both challenge and richness: challenges in explaining the conduct, rigor and outcomes of qualitative methodologies; and richness of perspective in addressing questions unsuited to other approaches. Navigating the challenges of designing, conducting and disseminating qualitative research is important, but at times is complicated by the diversity of approaches. How can the challenges of qualitative research be navigated successfully? How can the diversity of qualitative research best be celebrated, embraced, and communicated?
This year’s 19th Qualitative Health Research (QHR) Conference will be held at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel in Halifax, Nova Scotia on October 25-29, 2013.
