The Grant Assist Program (Natural Sciences and Engineering) and Cameron Library at the University of Alberta invite you to attend the Bibliometric & Research Impact workshop.  Join us and learn how to use citation analysis to show your research impact.  Please note that identical material will be presented at Session 1 and Session 2.

The Grant Assist Program (Health Sciences) supports applicants as they apply to CIHR through the delivery of feedback processes, workshops, resources, bridge funding and general assistance. This initiative is jointly supported by the Office of the Provost, the Office of the Vice-President Research, the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Alberta Innovates-Health Solutions, and the Women & Children’s Health Research Institute.

The Trudeau Foundation is Seeking Nominations for the 2015 Trudeau Fellows Competition

Internal U of A deadline: November 20, 2014 (Trudeau Foundation deadline: November 28)

Value: $225,000

Description

Fellows from the social sciences, humanities and creative arts have set themselves apart through their research achievements, creativity, and commitment to social affairs. They have demonstrated the capacity to propose creative solutions to important issues, reached beyond disciplinary boundaries to develop innovative ideas, and are deeply committed to engaging in public debate.

Selection Criteria

  • Leadership
  • Productivity
  • Reputation
  • Communication and involvement
  • Trudeau project

Nomination requirements (http://www.trudeaufoundation.ca/en/programs/fellowships)

  • 2-page backgrounder on candidate (template at above website)
  • Detailed letter from nominator (no page limit; drafted by person preparing the nomination; VPR will arrange for President’s signature)
  • Detailed project proposal from candidate (5-10 pages)
  • Candidate’s current résumé (no page limit)
  • 3 most significant publications, articles, or book chapters by candidate (no books)
  • Other relevant material, e.g., articles about the candidate, op-eds they have written, proof of public engagement through conferences, etc.

Please contact Kate Ballash (kate.ballash@ualberta.ca) as soon as possible if proposing a candidate to discuss preparation, internal timeline, and review process.  Please also contact Kate for access to previous successful nominations (Janine Brodie 2010 and Tim Caulfield 2013).

Final nomination materials (including the President’s letter) to be received by the VPR Office by November 20, 2014.
