REGISTER TODAY: 7th Annual Dr. Olive Yonge Teaching & Learning Scholarship Day
The 7th Annual Dr. Olive Yonge Teaching and Learning Scholarship Day is offered by the Nursing Pedagogy, Philosophy and History Area of Excellence in collaboration with the Centre for Teaching and Learning and supported by the Faculty of Education.
Subtitled Through the Looking Glass: Reflecting on the Scholarship of Teaching Learning, The Dr. Olive Yonge Teaching and Learning Scholarship Day is in honour of an exceptional teacher and scholar at the Faculty of Nursing and is in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the discipline and profession of nursing.
Dr. Yonge is the recipient of numerous awards, including the prestigious 3M Teaching Fellowship, the Rutherford Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching, and a Vargo Distinguished Teaching Chair.
An experienced nurse, educator, and chartered psychologist with a focus in conflict resolution, Dr. Yonge’s clinical area of expertise is psychiatric/ mental health nursing. Presently, Dr. Yonge is a professor in the Faculty of Nursing.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS: 26th Annual Palliative Care Education and Research Days
This year the theme for the Palliative Care Education and Research Days will be Time to Talk about Palliative and End of Life Care. Covenant Health is proud to support and provide delegates the opportunity to gather, meet, share experiences and exchange ideas with colleagues representing many disciplines from all over Alberta and surrounding provinces.
The conference committee is excited to present the following renowned speakers this year: Dr. Peter Lawlor speaking on Delirium; Ms. Andrea Warnick speaking on Children’s Grief & Conversations About Death and Dying; Dr. Susan MacDonald speaking on Advocacy for Improving End of Life Care; and Dr. Gordon Self speaking on Physician Assisted Suicide & Challenging Ethical Issues.
In-depth workshops, concurrent sessions, and posters will address all aspects of end-of-life care. Topic areas include:

The deadline for submitting abstracts for oral presentations such as concurrent sessions and workshops, and posters is Sunday, March 15, 2015. Abstracts on all aspects of end-of-life and palliative care are welcome. A full list of subject categories as well as submission instructions and descriptions of each type of presentation can be found online on the Abstract Submission page.

Reminder: New Funding Opportunity
Teaching, Learning, and Simulation Research Grant
The Faculty of Nursing Teaching, Learning, and Simulation Research (TLSR) Grant is intended to increase research capacity, and to increase knowledge about the use of teaching, learning and patient simulation in nursing education.
Value of the Award
Tenure track faculty may apply for one operating grant per competition as the nominated Principal Applicant. The amount for the award is a maximum total of $20,000, tenable for one year (April 1, 2015 – March 31, 2016). A maximum of two awards will be granted.

Monday, March 2, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. MST marks the deadline for FoN Undergraduate Student Summer Research Award. Please do not forget to include your transcripts and letter of reference each in a sealed envelope, and don’t forget to include all required signatures. The Research & Funding Support Coordinator will facilitate approval from the Dean.
