Assessing Progress on the IOM Report The Future of Nursing

Nurses make up the largest segment of the health care profession, with 3 million registered nurses in the United States. Nurses work in a wide variety of settings, including hospitals, public health centers, schools, and homes, and provide a continuum of services, including direct patient care, health promotion, patient education, and coordination of care. They serve in leadership roles, are researchers, and work to improve health care policy. As the health care system undergoes transformation due in part to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the nursing profession is making a wide-reaching impact by providing and affecting quality, patient-centered, accessible, and affordable care.

Attention (Graduate) Students

New Funding Opportunity!  Faculty of Nursing Endowment Fund for the Future Student Publication Award

The purpose of this award is to fund the development and refinement of scholarly work to be published in a peer-reviewed journal of repute. Awards will be prioritized to applications that show the clear added-value of the funds to the completed student project.

Funds can be used for professional editorial support, further development of the work (preferably by the student), or librarian services. Papers could arise from student coursework, theses or capping exercises.

The Endowment Fund for the Future (EFF) for the Advancement of Scholarship, from which this award is derived, is intended to enhance student experiences through engagement in research, facilitate the integration of teaching and research, and promote research and scholarly activity.
