Faculty of Nursing Undergraduate Student Summer Research Award & SSHRC Summer Award New!

Information: The Faculty of Nursing offers a summer research program for undergraduate nursing students to provide them with an opportunity to experience the research environment first-hand. Students will be involved in an on-going research project under the supervision of a tenure track faculty member.

The number of awards is dependent on the availability of funds from multiple sources including faculty endowments and the University of Alberta Office of the Provost and VP Academic. For more information, please see the guidelines

Maurice and Edna Minton Endowment Fund (MINTON) New!

Information: Through a generous donation from the late Mr. Maurice C. Minton, the Maurice and Edna Marie Minton Endowment Fund for Cancer Nursing Research was established. The intent of the endowment is to enhance the quality and quantity of cancer nursing research for the purpose of improving nursing practice and patient care.

This competition is open to the faculty members only. Due to limited funds, this year we are not accepting applications for student bursary. For more information, please review the guidelines .

Attention Undergraduate Students!


CIHR Institute of Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis-Undergraduate: Summer Studentship Award Institute Community Support (2017) New!

Information: The purpose of this funding opportunity is to provide undergraduate and health professional students with opportunities to undertake health research projects with established investigators in an environment that provides strong mentorship.

CIHR-IMHA will fund meritorious applications that are determined to be relevant to one or more of the following research priority areas:

  • Chronic Pain and Fatigue
  • Inflammation and Tissue Repair
  • Disability, Mobility and Health

The maximum stipend amount per award is $5,000 for four months. An additional 25 percent (at minimum) above the stipend contribution (i.e. $1,250 or more) must be secured from other sources by the supervisor(s), such as university funds, CIHR and/or NSERC grants, or any other research funds.
